Born in Texas, Lyrik grew up in Terrell, near Dallas. She wrote a few songs during her childhood, but stopped writing until her late 20’s. After receiving a Bachelors of Science in Psychology at Texas Woman’s University, Lyrik moved back to her home town to make a difference in her community. She worked for several years as a psychometrist at the psychiatric hospital in Terrell and has been teaching and coaching at the middle school for the past four years. While sharing the gospel with her students, she began to minister to them using raps. Many artist struggle to find their musical identity but her heart for God and unique way with words led her straight to Christian rap. Since she began rapping in 2012, Lyrik has left her mark in places such as all over the DFW Metro Plex, Killeen, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Brooklyn, NY. Lyrik is a new artist breaking through the Christian rap scene. Her new album, Get In The Game, will be released this September. It is a captivating and moving debut that heralds the arrival of a gifted and significant talent, one whose music feels familiar in the best pose, yet striking out on it’s own territory.
